Why pay online?

eServices provides easy, convenient methods for you to file and pay taxes using the NCDOR website. Using these file and pay applications allows us to process your return and payment accurately and efficiently.

Our eServices applications, including the eBusiness Center, are secure. The eBusiness Center is a web-based system within our website and our other applications use SSL (secure socket layer) with at least 128-bit encryption to protect your data.

What are the payment options?

You can pay using credit/debit card (MasterCard or Visa only) or by bank draft. Paying by bank draft (checking or savings) is free. Certain business tax types can make payments using electronic funds transfer (EFT) - review the EFT page for a list of applicable tax types.

If you decide to reverse a credit, debit, or bank draft transaction after you submit your payment, you will need to contact your financial institution. Reversing a transaction may cause you to be subject to penalties, interest, or fees for non-payment or late payment of tax.

Pay without fee

You can pay by bank draft without incurring a fee. To submit a bank draft payment, you need to provide the following:

  • Bank account number
  • Bank routing number
  • Account type (checking or savings)
  • Amount of payment
  • Date you want to make the payment
Pay with fee

You can pay by credit or debit card (MasterCard or Visa only) and pay a convenience fee of $2 for every $100 increment of your tax payment. Examples:

  • $2 - payment amounts of $.01 to $100
  • $4 - payment amounts of $100.01 to $200
  • $6 - payment amounts of $200.01 to $300

To pay by credit or debit card, you need to provide the following:

  • Credit or debit card number
  • Expiration date
  • Zip code (as it appears on your credit or debit card statement)
How do I submit my payment?
  • Enter your credit or debit card or bank draft information, following the prompts in the payment application
  • Print the confirmation page (contains a confirmation number) and save it for your records

All transactions submitted before 5 pm EST are effective the following banking day. The NCDOR will confirm your transaction by email within two business days pf the date you submitted your payment information. Retain this email for your records.

If you do not see the confirmation page online or do not receive a confirmation email, call 1-877-308-9103 for assistance.

Why can’t I make an online payment?

To prevent unauthorized debits, some financial institutions offer a debit block service for some banking accounts. The debit block must be removed before an online payment transaction can take place.

If you are unsure whether your bank account has a debit block, contact your financial institution. If there is a debit block on your account, provide your financial institution with the NCDOR company ID, 9044030460, so the block can be removed. Then submit your online payment using our web-based service.

When are eServices available?

eServices are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week with the exception of a scheduled maintenance period each Sunday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
