Objectives

The objectives of the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate are:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Department and the taxpayer to bring resolution to problems that cannot be resolved through existing channels
     
  • Provide assistance and resolution to specific taxpayer cases that have experienced a long standing or recurrent problem with the Department
     
  • Advise executive management of identified areas in which taxpayers are experiencing difficulty voluntarily complying with DOR
     
  • Preserve and promote the rights of the taxpayer
     
  • Foster open and honest communications
