Granville County Woman Arrested on Felony Tax Evasion Charges
March 22, 2016
RALEIGH – A Granville County woman was arrested Monday on felony tax charges filed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
Euvonne Sherell Sneed, 46, of 503 West C. Street, Apt. 3G, Butner, was charged on March 21, 2016 with three counts of Attempting to Evade or Defeat Tax, and one count of Willful Failure to File Return, Supply Information, or Pay Tax.
Arrest warrants allege that Sneed knowingly and willfully maintained with her employer, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (Central Regional Hospital), fraudulent Forms NC-4, claiming to be exempt from North Carolina individual income tax withholding. These actions caused Central Regional Hospital, to not withhold state individual income tax from her wages, all in an attempt to evade and defeat the North Carolina individual income tax. The alleged offenses occurred during the tax years 2009, 2013, and 2014.
An additional arrest warrant alleged that Sneed was required to file a North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return for tax year 2012, but willfully failed to file the return.
Sneed appeared before a Wake County magistrate and was placed under a $10,000.00 bond. A first appearance was scheduled for March 22, 2016 in Wake County District Court in Raleigh.
The charges against Sneed resulted from an investigation by special agents with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Section in Raleigh.
